Ransomware Breach at Ingram Micro: What You Need to Know

Ingram Micro, a major contender in tech distribution and supply chain services, has faced a significant cybersecurity incident. A ransomware attack has exposed the personal details of around 42,000 individuals. The compromised data includes sensitive information such as names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and employment details. It’s a stark reminder of the growing cyber threats in today’s digital landscape.

The incident was discovered on July 3, 2025. Ingram Micro quickly responded by bringing in cybersecurity experts to investigate. They identified that unauthorized access occurred between July 2 and July 3, during which files were extracted from their internal systems. The company was quick to isolate the breach and implement protective measures to secure their networks.

Steps Taken and What’s Next

Swift action allowed Ingram Micro to regain operational stability by July 9, 2025. Recognizing the seriousness of the breach, they’ve offered two years of free credit monitoring and identity protection for those affected. While the organization hasn’t pinpointed the group behind the attack, the Safepay ransomware group has claimed responsibility, alleging they took 3.5 terabytes of data and attempted to release it due to failed negotiations.
