SSH Communications’ Leap Towards Quantum-Resistant Cybersecurity

SSH Communications Security is taking quantum computing threats seriously by joining the BlimPQC initiative. This collaboration, featuring key figures from industry, academia, and government in Finland, focuses on tackling the cybersecurity challenges that quantum computers present. The main goal is to ensure that data remains safe even when quantum computers become mainstream.

As part of this endeavor, SSH is spearheading efforts under Work Package 5. Their role is centered on creating practical, easy-to-implement post-quantum cryptography (PQC) solutions. These are designed to protect current data exchanges and support a future shift to secure quantum communications. Key developments include crafting encryption systems, innovative identification, and key management solutions, all underscored by a new authority for issuing PQC certificates.

• From 2020 to 2022, SSH led the acclaimed PQC Finland project, pushing Finland’s PQC frontiers.
• Launched SSH NQX PQC Edition in 2021, a cutting-edge network encryptor for quantum-safe communications.
• Released quantum-secure file transfer options with Tectia and its z/OS PQC Mainframe Edition in 2022.
• Debuted PrivX in 2022, enhancing quantum-safe network access management.
• Engaged in the NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography Building Block Consortium from 2023 onward, supporting global PQC advancements.
• In 2025, rolled out PrivX Key Manager PQC Crypto Inventory Insights.

By joining initiatives like BlimPQC, SSH reiterates its dedication to shielding critical systems from quantum-induced cybersecurity threats.
