2025 Cloudflare Internet Trends: AI, Post-Quantum Security & DDoS Insights
2025 Cloudflare Radar Overview
The Cloudflare Radar’s yearly report for 2025 gives us a peek into the dynamic world of internet trends. Spanning a massive network that covers 330 cities in over 125 countries, Cloudflare handles a remarkable 81 million HTTP requests every second. At peak times, this number soars to 129 million requests, with an additional 67 million DNS queries to manage. This hefty data flow allows Cloudflare to offer nearly real-time insights into internet behavior, covering aspects like bot activity, security, and connectivity trends. This year’s review breaks down the data into six key areas: Traffic, AI Adoption, Connectivity, Security, Email Security, and more. The structure remains consistent with past reports, but now it also features compelling AI metrics and staggering DDoS attack data.
Key Internet Trends of 2025
The report highlights some fascinating shifts. Internet traffic jumped by 19%, a surge boosted by new service entries in the top 10 ranking. Interestingly, Starlink’s expansion into more than 20 countries led to it doubling its traffic. AI activity, especially from Googlebot, skyrocketed, with its crawls outpacing other bots significantly. iOS devices alone generated about 35% of mobile traffic globally, and HTTP/3 saw more use, albeit modestly. Connectivity saw major disruptions linked to government-imposed shutdowns, affecting about 50% of significant outages. While IPv6 adoption is slow, countries like India surpassed expectations with substantial usage. Security-wise, 6.2% of global traffic was flagged as possibly malicious, a slight dip from last year, though the US led in bot traffic. Email security remained a concern, with over 5% deemed harmful, primarily from certain top-level domains.
These findings paint a vivid picture of our evolving digital world, promising more changes as we move forward. Dive deeper into these trends in the full Cloudflare Radar 2025 Year in Review available online.
