Malaysia’s AI Leap with Nvidia-Powered Data Center

Recently, at a summit aptly named “AI-Driven Investment Opportunities” held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia announced a major step towards becoming an AI powerhouse. A new 600MW Nvidia-powered data center has been launched within YTL’s Green Data Center Park in Johor. This facility underscores Malaysia’s commitment to developing its digital independence, equipped with Nvidia’s cutting-edge NVL72 Grace Blackwell GPUs that are tailored for AI applications. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of AI sovereignty for ensuring a secure digital ecosystem. He stated, “Developing our own AI capabilities is crucial for a secure and trustworthy digital environment.”

The momentum doesn’t stop here. Malaysia’s first large language model, ILMU, was debuted at the ASEAN AI Summit, signaling the country’s ambition to be an AI leader in Southeast Asia by 2030. A generous RM5.9 billion has been allocated in the 2026 Budget to bolster AI infrastructure, with a vision to drive industrial innovation and global competitiveness. Supported by strategic initiatives under the “Malaysia Digital” strategy, Kuala Lumpur is swiftly emerging as a key tech hub. With energy efficiency and an attractive economic landscape, Malaysia continues to draw global giants like Nvidia, aiming for a substantial share of the projected USD 1.8 trillion global AI sector by 2030.

Investment and Innovation at the Core of Malaysia’s AI Strategy

Supporting Malaysia’s AI vision, BOOKMAP Malaysia, operating through VeloxPro’s Bookmap brand, is equipping investors with advanced financial tools. This follows an impactful investment from Nelogica, enhancing its hybrid online exchanges and data solutions spanning local and global markets. At the summit, Leon, a market expert, provided insights using Elliott Wave Theory on AI stocks, using Axiata Group as a case study—highlighting its stock potential through AI-driven growth and data center investments.

For investors and tech enthusiasts alike, these developments present significant opportunities. Axiata, predicted to hit RM4.50, exemplifies Malaysia’s burgeoning tech landscape. Such initiatives, combined with strategic investments, are not just reshaping Malaysia’s digital infrastructure but are setting a precedence in the region’s tech evolution.
