Quantum Computing Inc Unveils Fab 1, Secures $1.5B Funding Boost
Quantum Computing Inc. Expands with New Facility and Funding
Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) is making waves in the tech industry with the launch of “Fab 1,” a cutting-edge chip manufacturing plant in Tempe, Arizona. This 2025 milestone has significantly boosted their operations, leading to a remarkable 219% increase in fourth quarter revenue, reaching about $198,000. Early outputs from the facility, paired with their growing foundry services, have been key drivers of this growth.
Fueling these advancements is over $1.5 billion raised to support QCi’s strategic and technological goals. CEO Yuping Huang emphasized their commitment to a vertically integrated platform in photonics and quantum optics, aiming to enhance applications in AI, high-performance computing, and cybersecurity. The recent acquisition of Luminar Semiconductor, which specializes in lasers and detectors, strengthens their capabilities.
Strategic Financial Moves Bolster Growth
QCi’s financial maneuvers in 2025 were impressive, notably raising over $1.5 billion through a well-subscribed fourth-quarter private placement. This capital windfall, grossing $750 million before expenses, underscores strong investor faith in QCi’s growth in the quantum photonics industry.
Assets climbed to $1.6 billion by year-end, up from $153.6 million the prior year. The strategic purchase of Luminar Semiconductor boosts their photonic capabilities, especially in TFLN technology. CEO Huang noted a pivot from R&D to generating operational revenue, despite a net loss of $1.6 million—an improvement from 2024’s larger deficit. This stability allows QCi to expand its engineering and production workforce.
Enhancing Expertise through Acquisition
The acquisition of Luminar Semiconductor enhances QCi’s role in integrated photonics, pivotal for advancing AI and secure communications. Unlike competitors, QCi prioritizes practical, accessible systems, operating at room temperature and lower power.
The $110 million all-cash deal, completed in early 2026, brings expertise in lasers, detectors, and manufacturing, strengthening QCi’s TFLN capabilities at Fab 1. They’ve already commenced revenue-generating operations with small-batch production. Plans for a second facility, Fab 2, are underway to amplify production and leverage their growing capabilities.
Neurawave and Strategic Partnerships
QCi’s latest venture is Neurawave, a photonic reservoir computer introduced at SuperCompute25, designed to integrate with existing IT setups. This cost-effective, accessible quantum machine showcases the practical use of photonic computing for AI and pattern recognition.
In a strategic move, QCi is collaborating with POET Technologies, aiming to develop high-throughput TFLN modulator-based engines. This synergy aims to enhance future computing solutions, combining POET’s optical expertise with QCi’s photonic platform.
