Naoris Protocol Unveils $120K Post-Quantum Crypto Bug Bounty
Naoris Protocol’s Quantum Challenge
Naoris Protocol, based in Wilmington, Delaware, is turning heads with its new $120,000 bounty. Aimed at tackling cryptographic security concerns, this initiative puts a spotlight on identifying weaknesses in key elliptic curve algorithms. Bitcoin, with its $2.4 trillion value, and the $410 trillion banking sector rely on these algorithms. This move signals growing unease about the staying power of our current cryptographic defenses against the rise of quantum computing.
Bounty Details
This ambitious bounty prioritizes strengthening security, not weakening it. The program offers sizable rewards:
- $50,000 for secp256k1, vital for Bitcoin and Ethereum
- $30,000 for Ed25519, crucial for apps like Signal and WhatsApp
- $20,000 for NIST P-256, essential to secure web communications
- $10,000 for other pivotal curves
CEO David Carvalho stresses that this initiative is a preemptive protective measure. “The rise of quantum computers is a threat we must address now with quantum-safe infrastructures,” he mentioned.
The Rising Threat
Elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) is the backbone of today’s digital security, safeguarding everything from banking systems and cryptocurrencies to secure online communications. As quantum computing continues to develop, the need to test these cryptographic standards becomes critical.
Participants are challenged to derive a private key from a public key purely through mathematical prowess, without relying on implementation errors. For entry submissions, visit the designated form online.
The Clock is Ticking
While today’s quantum computers aren’t yet capable, their rapid evolution poses a ticking clock. With key cryptographic players like the NSA preparing for a post-quantum world, more organizations are expected to follow.
About Naoris Protocol: Leading in quantum-resistant blockchain solutions, Naoris Protocol partners with industry giants to forge a secure, post-quantum future. Entries can be submitted via their form.
