A New Dawn for Sustainable AI in Europe

On December 5, 2025, tech giants Fujitsu and Scaleway announced an exciting new partnership aimed squarely at developing sustainable AI solutions in Europe. This collaboration, cemented with an agreement signed on November 27, 2025, sets out to shape a next-generation AI environment that is both sustainable and aligned with data sovereignty goals. By harnessing the capabilities of Fujitsu’s processor design expertise and Scaleway’s robust cloud infrastructure, this alliance promises innovative strides in responsible AI deployment.

Fujitsu’s plan to deploy its energy-efficient FUJITSU-MONAKA CPU platform—an option competitive to the traditional GPU setup—marks a new era for AI inference processing. This is particularly geared towards businesses in Europe, who are increasingly concerned about power consumption and supply chain robustness. Plus, clients will be able to select AI platforms optimized for their operational needs and total cost of ownership, fulfilling a crucial requirement in today’s AI-driven market.

Innovation Meets Energy Efficiency

Naoki Shinjo from Fujitsu highlighted the transformative potential of this partnership with Scaleway, stressing the urgency of managing AI’s rising energy demands. For Fujitsu, developing infrastructure that flexes to fit varying workloads is essential in this rapidly evolving space. Meanwhile, Scaleway’s Yann-Guirec Manac’h emphasized the synergy between the two companies, particularly in meeting modern demands with greener, more efficient cloud services.

As the usage of generative AI surges, data center energy consumption rises, posing a significant challenge. This collaboration is set to provide a balanced solution that champions both performance and environmental responsibility. With a Proof of Concept planned for late 2026 and commercial projects possibly launching in 2027, this partnership promises to deliver CPU-driven AI services finely tuned to Europe’s market demands.

About Fujitsu and Scaleway

With a mission to drive global sustainability through innovation, Fujitsu employs over 113,000 people worldwide and reported a revenue of 3.6 trillion yen in the fiscal year ending March 2025. Complementarily, Scaleway, Europe’s cloud leader and US alternative under the iliad Group, combines deep infrastructure knowledge with modern technology, perfectly poised to support this landmark partnership.
