OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasizes the project’s role in fostering responsible AI use across millions of public sector employees, with an eye on strict data privacy norms.

SAP’s CEO, Christian Klein, views this collaboration as a blend of sovereign cloud expertise and cutting-edge AI. The strategic alliance is expected to be a catalyst for innovation, not solely within Germany but reaching across Europe. SAP is preparing for increased demand by boosting its Delos Cloud capabilities to support 4,000 GPUs.

This expanded capacity offers a robust framework for delivering sovereign cloud solutions, dovetailing with the “Made for Germany” initiative. This initiative partners with a coalition of 61 companies to push forward economic growth and innovation, backed by a substantial funding of €631 billion. Additionally, plans are in place to roll out Sovereign Cloud options on AWS’s new European platform, starting in Brandenburg by 2025.
