BTU Restores Credit Card Payments After Ransomware Attack
BTU Resumes Credit Card Payments After Cyberattack
In Bryan, Texas, Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) has restored credit and debit card payments for its customers. This comes after a brief disruption due to a ransomware attack on their payment processing partner, BridgePay.
The interruption started on Monday, but by Wednesday, BTU had switched to a new payment processor. Despite the hiccup, the transition is expected to be seamless for most customers. Rest assured, your payment details will move over effortlessly, keeping both the user interface and account details intact.
For those using autopay, transactions will proceed without a hitch. If you missed a payment during the interruption, BTU promises to process those automatically by Tuesday, February 17. Although late fees and service disconnections will resume on February 23, BTU encourages anyone experiencing payment issues to contact their customer service team.
Crucially, BTU has confirmed through BridgePay that no sensitive customer data was leaked during the attack. They’re committed to protecting customer information and maintaining reliable service.
If you have questions, you can check the BridgePay status page or BTU’s payment notice site. BTU appreciates your patience and is dedicated to resolving these matters effectively.
