D-Wave and SQT Launch €10M Quantum Computing Collaboration in Europe
D-Wave’s Quantum Leap with Swiss Quantum Technology
D-Wave Quantum Inc. is making waves in Europe through a new partnership with Swiss Quantum Technology SA (SQT). They’ve joined forces to bring the D-Wave Advantage2™ annealing quantum computer to the continent, marked by a hefty €10 million investment from SQT. This isn’t just about money, though. SQT’s commitment gives them access that covers half the operating time of this quantum marvel for the next five years. Plus, they have the option to buy the system outright if they choose. All in all, this move is a big boost for the Q-Alliance, a budding initiative in Italy aimed at elevating quantum technology.
The Power of Advantage2
So, what makes this partnership so exciting? The Advantage2 system packs over 4,400 qubits under its hood, making it a powerhouse for both quantum and hybrid applications. Users across Europe can tap into its capabilities via D-Wave’s Leap™ quantum cloud service. This furthers the Q-Alliance’s goal to create a cutting-edge quantum landscape in Italy.
Dr. Alan Baratz, the big boss at D-Wave, pointed out that this agreement is a major milestone for the company’s mission to make annealing quantum computers more globally accessible. On the other side, SQT’s CEO, Enrico De Mitri, highlighted that bringing in an Advantage2 system reflects their drive to deliver innovative computational solutions with an eye on energy efficiency.
