UAE Boosts Quantum Cybersecurity Initiatives

The UAE is taking bold strides into the quantum realm, aiming to secure its digital landscape against future threats. During the CyberQ 2025 event held in Abu Dhabi late last month, the UAE Cybersecurity Council unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration with QuantumGate, a part of VentureOne. This collaboration marks a significant shift from planning to actionable steps as the UAE prepares to tackle quantum decryption challenges that could hit critical sectors.

The primary goal is to ensure the nation can anticipate and manage risks posed by quantum decryption. This involves rolling out large-scale cryptographic upgrades to safeguard sensitive data. Notably, the UAE is setting a global benchmark by being among the first to initiate a national plan for post-quantum preparedness.

Strategic Programs for National Readiness

To translate their strategic aims into practical measures, the UAE has launched several key programs, such as the National Information Assurance Program and the National Cybersecurity Index Platform. The National Post-Quantum Migration Program is also underway, focusing on identifying cryptographic vulnerabilities and helping organizations refine their security strategies. This comprehensive approach ensures that the UAE is not just aware of potential quantum-related risks but is taking decisive action to mitigate them.

By integrating QuantumGate’s advanced technologies, the UAE aims to protect its critical infrastructure. His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Al-Kuwaiti highlighted the proactive nature of this strategy, saying the collaboration ensures defenses are set up today to counteract future quantum threats.
