UCLA Leads Quantum Innovation with SoCal Quantum Alliance

In a bold leap for Southern California, UCLA has unveiled the SoCal Quantum Alliance (SQA). This initiative partners regional universities with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and major tech firms to supercharge quantum research and workforce growth. It’s a collective push to solidify the area’s role in the burgeoning quantum tech landscape.

Heavyweights like USC, Caltech, Boeing, Cisco, and IBM are all aboard. Together, they aim to integrate research and talent development under the Quantum California initiative, ensuring California remains at the forefront of quantum technology on a global scale.

Collaboration Breeds Innovation

Under UCLA’s guidance, this alliance is a testament to collaborative innovation. Dee Dee Myers, senior advisor to Governor Newsom, emphasizes how linking academics with industry can turn dreams into reality, maintaining California’s leadership in cutting-edge tech.

UCLA’s Center for Quantum Science and Engineering spearheads this movement, managing a new Quantum Innovation Hub at UCLA’s Research Park. The hub is set to unite diverse researchers to drive quantum progress.

Capitalizing on a Rich Quantum Legacy

The SQA builds on a strong legacy of quantum science in Southern California. Past luminaries like Richard Feynman set high standards, and current efforts aim to transform groundbreaking discoveries into practical innovations.

By weaving together education and industry, the alliance is dedicated to cultivating skilled professionals ready to propel the quantum field forward.
