Cohesity and Google Cloud: A Stronger Alliance

Cohesity has announced a strengthening of its partnership with Google Cloud, which aims to bolster cyber resilience and drive the adoption of enterprise AI through innovative product integrations. This initiative builds upon their existing collaboration, introducing a suite of solutions designed to protect data, meet regulatory compliance, and harness the power of enterprise AI. Key integrations will include Google Cloud’s AI and security tools with Cohesity’s AI assistant, Gaia, its Data Cloud platform, and Cohesity DataProtect.

Sanjay Poonen, CEO and President of Cohesity, highlights that this collaboration transforms data sovereignty from a regulatory hurdle into a source of trust and competitive edge.

AI-Driven Improvements

The centerpiece of this partnership is Cohesity’s AI assistant, Gaia. New plans involve incorporating Google Cloud’s Vertex AI Search capabilities into Gaia to provide instant, accurate responses to queries using structured data. This would draw on resources secured in Cohesity’s data repository. Furthermore, fresh capabilities are on the way that will allow AI agents, powered by Google’s platform, to safely access historical data within Cohesity’s Data Cloud. Users can anticipate enhanced performance as Gaia becomes available through Google Cloud’s infrastructure.

Enhanced Security Features

Currently, Cohesity’s Data Cloud leverages Google Threat Intelligence to help clients identify and mitigate data threats. The expanded collaboration will automate security procedures, increasing threat detection efficacy in backup environments, aided by Google’s Security Operations. Cohesity’s CERT will partner with Google’s Mandiant team to assist mutual clients in recovering from significant cyber incidents. Moreover, a new SaaS solution promises cloud-isolated recovery options, accelerating recovery processes.

Emphasizing Digital Sovereignty

Amid growing regulatory demands, Cohesity is keen on demonstrating its commitment to data sovereignty. The company is designated as a Google Cloud Ready – Regulated & Sovereignty Solutions partner, ensuring clients can use its Data Cloud within Google Cloud’s specified data perimeters to comply with residency regulations. Cohesity FortKnox on Google Cloud aims to provide unyielding cyber vaulting through policy-driven controls.

Future Joint Initiatives

The alliance will further enhance data protection for a range of Google Cloud services, like Compute Engine and Cloud Storage, with plans to extend to GKE and BigQuery. Cohesity and Google Cloud plan to engage in joint marketing efforts, co-selling opportunities, and integrated campaigns. All components of the Cohesity Data Cloud are accessible on the Google Cloud Marketplace.

According to Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, this agreement highlights the commitment of both companies to leverage data fully. By merging Google Cloud’s AI and security advancements with Cohesity’s cyber resilience, the partnership is set to accelerate AI transformation, ensuring a more secure and compliant future for clients worldwide.
