Saurabh Tiwary, Google’s VP and GM of Cloud AI, highlighted the fast-growing embrace of AI by Indian developers and startups. “The rapid integration of AI by businesses is impressive, and our infrastructure will equip them with essential tools,” Tiwary remarked.

Addressing the rising demand for AI, Google is rolling out specific tools that emphasize sovereignty and data security. For regulated customers, the Gemini 2.5 Flash model now supports local machine learning, ensuring operations stay domestic. Enhancements have also been made to services like Document AI and Google Maps to suit India’s unique digital needs.

In a collaborative effort, Google Cloud and Google DeepMind have teamed up with IIT Madras on the Indic Arena project by AI4Bharat. This initiative aims to benchmark AI performance across India’s broad spectrum of languages. Mitesh Khapra, from IIT Madras, underscored the importance of standardized benchmarks for effective AI performance evaluation in diverse linguistic contexts.
