2025 Quantum Internet Application Challenge: Innovate With QIA
Exciting Opportunities with the 2025 Quantum Internet Application Challenge
The Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA) has thrown open the doors for innovators worldwide with the 2025 Quantum Internet Application Challenge. This initiative is calling for brilliant minds to help develop groundbreaking applications for the soon-to-be-ubiquitous quantum internet. Now in its third year, this challenge is your chance to contribute to what’s next in quantum networking.
Participants will use QIA’s open-source simulation tool, SquidASM, to explore ideas in various domains like secure communication, distributed computing, and quantum sensing. Make sure to submit your groundbreaking concepts by December 21, 2025!
Rewards and Innovative Legacy
What’s in it for the winners? A research internship at one of the prestigious QIA partner institutions, valued at up to €5,000. Think Delft University of Technology or the University of Parma! Since its beginning, the challenge has sparked inventive solutions globally. Last year, Claudio Cicconetti from Italy was honored for his work on quantum network benchmarks, while Roberto Navarro from Mexico explored “Graph State Generation” in 2024.
The variety of previous entries, including quantum voting systems and quantum key distribution, reflects the diversity and dedication of the community working to build the quantum internet. The challenge offers an opportunity for individuals or teams of up to three, with tutorials and a Foundation Challenge available for newcomers. Registration is open now, so don’t miss out!
