Pawsey Supercomputing Centre Unveils Groundbreaking Setonix-Q Quantum System

Great news for the tech world! On September 23, 2025, the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre launched a cutting-edge quantum computing platform called Setonix-Q. Integrated with Australia’s top supercomputer, Setonix, this pilot program opens up vast new avenues for research. Through the Quantum Hub Portal, users gain free access to quantum simulators, enhanced by NVIDIA GraceHopper GH200 superchips and CUDA-Q architecture. Even more exciting, real quantum computing hardware is accessible via Amazon Braket. Supported by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy and the National Computational Merit Allocation Scheme, this initiative is poised to revolutionize research capabilities.

Australian researchers can now engage with a variety of quantum processing units (QPUs) like IonQ Aria, IQM Garnet, and QuEra Aquila. The program stands out by ensuring transparent budgeting and governance, broadening entry into the quantum world. This blend of quantum prowess with high-performance supercomputing is a massive leap for scientific research. Validating this progress, studies from Curtin University and Murdoch University support the platform’s foundations, built on years of exploration.

The Setonix-Q initiative is eliminating traditional barriers, offering scientists a chance to dive into wide-ranging research fields, from materials science to computational physics. It sets the stage for future discoveries and signifies a paradigm shift in technology and research collaboration.

This advancement promises to reshape technological boundaries, encouraging swift innovative strides in scientific pursuits worldwide. Don’t miss out on the chance to see where this frontier will take us!
