Infineon Brings Post-Quantum Security to Microcontrollers

Infineon Technologies has taken a bold step forward by enhancing its embedded security features with Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) for the PSoC™ Control C3 Performance Line microcontrollers. This upgrade is more than just a tweak; it aligns with the latest standards for firmware security and positions Infineon at the forefront of cybersecurity innovation. As quantum computing evolves, the threat landscape changes, making strong defenses crucial.

Tailored for real-time applications, these upgraded microcontrollers meet the demands of various sectors, from data centers to solar energy solutions. What’s truly impressive is how they combine cutting-edge security with high system performance, all thanks to proprietary hardware accelerators. The result? Enhanced control and efficiency designed for the future.

Preparing for the Quantum Era

“We’re setting a new benchmark for secure microcontroller applications,” said Steve Tateosian from Infineon. By incorporating the Leighton-Micali Hash-Based Signatures (LMS), their architecture supports users transitioning from traditional encryption to PQC-ready security. Say goodbye to outdated ECC; the future is all about robust quantum resistance.

The Edge Protect Tools and ModusToolbox™ ecosystem make adopting these new technologies easier than ever. Expected for production in 2026, the PSoC Control C3 will come in versatile models, perfect for everything from power conversion to motor control. With features like Secure Boot and advanced algorithm support, they’re ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges head-on.
