The findings point out that while fewer organizations are succumbing to ransom demands—down to 57% this year from 76% last year—the number and intensity of attacks have ramped up. An unnerving 85% of these attacked organizations are dealing with threats of personal data exposure, which adds a psychological layer of pressure on them.

AI’s Role in Cybersecurity

AI is proving to be a double-edged sword in cybersecurity. While hackers leverage AI to automate and enhance their attacks, including phishing and deepfake-based strategies, defenders are no slouches. A significant 90% of companies are adopting AI-powered tools to strengthen their defenses. Whether it’s identifying phishing attempts, analyzing potential threats, or managing security operations, AI is becoming an invaluable ally.

Unfortunately, not all organizations are equipped with basic security measures. Only 34% adhere to strict access controls, and less than 60% impose robust application control systems. With recovery from attacks often dragging on for weeks, these gaps highlight a dire need for more comprehensive security strategies.
